Upcoming Pilgrimages
June 20, 2012
The Most Reverend Benjamin, Archbishop of San Francisco, invites all to join him and his flock on an Orthodox Pilgrimage to the Holy Sites of Italy: “Ancient and Holy in Italy” October 14 – 27, 2012. Participants of this special pilgrimage will be able to worship at the numerous holy sites of the Ancient Church, attend the Divine Liturgy in the Roman Catacombs and on the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and to learn about the early history of the church in the West. Also, pilgrims will see the splendid remains of the Byzantine Civilization in Italy and a number of major ruins of the glorious Ancient Rome. More details are available via the websites of the Diocese of the West: http://dowoca.org/ or from Fr. Lawrence Margitich: 707-585-8199 or Lmargitich@sbcglobal.net.
In addition to the pilgrimage to Italy, an orthodox Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Israel, West Bank and Jordan) will be offered during this coming Fall as well: “Ancient and Holy in the Holy Land” (Israel and Jordan). October 28 – November 12, 2012
That particular pilgrimage was created as Christian pilgrimage and educational tour. We combine visits to sites of religious significance with stops at places of historical and archaeological importance. The tour will be of benefit to all who have an interest in the Early Church, Monasticism and the Ancient Middle East. Details about that pilgrimage could be found on the website: www.orthodoxtours.com

South Central Deanery June 2012 Meeting
June 11, 2012
June 4, 5, 6
South Central Deanery Meeting
The Southcentral Deanery met this week at St Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church in Denison, Texas. Divine Liturgy was served on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In addition to the usual deanery business Father Marcus Burch, our chancellor, gave a synopsis of the work done in the diocese during the last year and addressed the priests on the episcopal selection process.
It was also our pleasure to have Abbott Gerasim with us for the entire meeting. He was able to speak privately to most of the priests and spoke with the group as a whole, instructing and answering questions. Father Gerasim also met with the parishioners of St Paul’s.
The people of St Paul’s Mission provided wonderful hospitality and service making the event a great experience for all of the brethren.
