Born in Torrance, California, in 1961, Bishop Gerasim entered the Orthodox Church in 1980 and began his monastic life at Saint Herman of Alaska Monastery in Platina, California, in 1981. Ordained to the priesthood in 1995, he served as the monastery’s abbot from 2000 to 2009. His ministry has included monastic life in Alaska, pastoral visits to Latin America, and longstanding relationships with Orthodox communities abroad. After earning a Master of Divinity from Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in 2012, he served at Holy Virgin Mary Cathedral in Los Angeles before becoming dean of Saint Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas in 2013. He was consecrated Bishop of Fort Worth and Auxiliary to the Diocese of the South on June 29, 2021. Following his service as Locum Tenens and unanimous nomination by the Diocesan Assembly, the Holy Synod elected him Bishop of Dallas and the South on November 2, 2026. His enthronement is scheduled for November 14, 2026, at Saint Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas.
