Diocesan Seminarians Celebrate Bishop Gerasim’s Election

November 2nd, 2026, marked a joyful occasion in the life of the Diocese of the South as the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America elected His Grace Bishop Gerasim as Bishop of Dallas and the Diocese of the South. The election took place during the Holy Synod’s meeting at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

That evening, our diocesan seminarians and their families had the joy of gathering with their newly elected bishop for fellowship and conversation. The gathering offered an opportunity to share in the happiness of the day and to spend time together as members of the diocesan family.

For seminarians preparing to serve the Church, occasions such as this are a meaningful reminder of the bonds that unite their studies and formation to the life of the diocese. Their preparation for ministry takes place within a larger community of faithful people, clergy, and families, joined together in the worship and service of Christ. Gathering with Bishop Gerasim brought that connection into particular focus on an important day for the Diocese of the South.

The presence of the seminarians’ families added to the warmth of the evening. As those preparing for ministry look toward their future service, their families share in both the joys and the responsibilities of that preparation. Together, they were able to celebrate this new chapter in the life of the diocese.

The evening of fellowship was a warm and memorable conclusion to a momentous day. As we give thanks for Bishop Gerasim’s election, we ask the faithful to remember him in their prayers, along with our diocesan seminarians and their families.

May God grant Bishop Gerasim wisdom, strength, and many years!
